M.C. Escher (1898 – 1972) was a Dutch graphic artist known for his often mathematically inspired woodcuts, lithographs, and mezzotints that feature impossible constructions, explorations of infinity, architecture, and tessellations.

A nonlinear system is any problem where the equation(s) to be solved cannot be written as a linear combination of the unknown variables or functions that appear in it (them). Nonlinear equations are difficult to solve and give rise to interesting phenomena such as chaos, a system where the present determines the future, but the approximate present does not approximately determine the future – just like in life, sometimes…
